Shotokan Karate
Rising Sun Martial Arts is one of the very few Dojo's to offer Shotokan Karate training in Kissimmee.
At Rising Sun Martial Arts you learn traditional Shotokan karate-do along with real world self defense.
Training consists primarily of Kihon (basic techniques practice), Kata (forms practice), and Kumite (progressive levels of sparring and self defense).
We offer classes for kids and adults of all ages:
Little Ninja’s Karate Class
Ages 4 and 5 years. The emphasis here is on learning and developing skills such as listening,
following directions, respect, manners, discipline, positive attitude, interacting with others,
and learning to make the right choices.
Motor skills, balance, eye-hand coordination, and muscular development are also part of our major focus at this age.
Basic karate skills are introduced at this level, as well as personal safety and stranger awareness.
Junior Karate Class
Ages 6 thrugh 12 years. The emphasis here is on learning and developing skills such as listening,
following directions, respect, manners, discipline, positive attitude, interacting with others,
and learning to make the right choices. In addition, the Jr. Class
learns the basic skills and techniques of Shotokan karate. Students also are building
on their personal safety and stranger awareness skills as well as learning basic self defense
techniques. Color stripe belts are awarded according to skill level, and after completing the required amount of classes
and upon passing a rank test. Testing is done every 4 months. Many parents and teachers have complimented on the courtesy and self control our students demonstrate – a testament to both the student and the success of our programs.
Senior Karate Class
Students 13 years and older attend the Senior Class. Although some students advance
to the Sr. class as early as 12 years old, it is only after earning
that thru hard work and training thru the Jr. Class. The Sr. Class places much higher
emphasis on traditional Shotokan training – stretching, kihon (basics), kata (forms), and kumite (sparring/self defense).
As in the Jr. Class, the adult students advance in rank based on skill level, and testing.
